Privacy Policy
Heyo! I'm Mheep, and I make The Loopler. This page explains what the game and this website collect and what happens to it. If you have questions, email me at mheepdev@gmail.com.
TLDR: no ads, no accounts, and I never sell anything. Your save stays on your computer and in Steam Cloud. Leaderboards go through Steam. Analytics are opt in so unless you turn them on yourself, no gameplay data is collected.
Your save
Your progress and settings are saved locally on your computer. If you use Steam Cloud, Steam keeps a copy too, so you can carry on from another computer.
Leaderboards
The leaderboards use Steam's backend. Your score goes to Steam along with your Steam ID, your profile name and the items you finished the run with. Anyone can see the leaderboards, and Valve's privacy policy covers what Steam does with that data.
Analytics (off by default)
If you opt in to Analytics in the Options menu, the game sends info about your runs and how they went to Unity Analytics: when a run starts and ends, how far you got, which car, track and difficulty you picked, and which items you were offered and which ones you took. Unity also adds a random ID and some basic device info: device model, operating system, language and roughly which country you're in.
I use this to find out what's too strong, too weak or broken. Turn the option off again and it stops.
Crash reports
The Unity engine sends anonymous crash and performance reports to the Unity Diagnostic service.
What I don't collect
The game never asks for your name, email or where you live. There are no ads, and nothing tracks you across other games or websites. If you email me, I only use your address to write back.

How long it's kept
Leaderboard entries stay for as long as the leaderboard does. Daily and weekly boards reset on their own schedule. Analytics data is kept for as long as Unity's analytics service keeps it.
Getting a copy or deleting your data
Leaderboards: email me your Steam profile name and tell me whether you want a copy of your entries or want them removed. Your Steam account itself is handled by Valve, so contact Steam about that.
Analytics: this data isn't tied to your Steam account, so the only way I can find yours is the random ID the game uses. If you never turned analytics on, there's nothing to find. If you did, open the game's log file and look for the line that starts with [RunAnalytics] and ends with User ID: .... The log file can be found here:
- Windows:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Mheep Dev\The Loopler\Player.log - Mac:
~/Library/Logs/Mheep Dev/The Loopler/Player.log - Linux:
~/.config/unity3d/Mheep Dev/The Loopler/Player.log
Send me that ID and tell me whether you want a copy or want it deleted. I'll get back to you within 30 days.
Your rights
If you live in the EU or UK (GDPR) or in California, you have the right to see, correct or delete your data, and to object to how it's used. I use leaderboard data because the leaderboards can't work without it. Analytics only happen if you agree to them by turning the option on.
Email me and I'll answer within 30 days. If you're not happy with my answer, you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
The Loopler isn't made for children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect anything from them. If you think a child has sent me data, let me know and I'll delete it.
This website
This site doesn't use cookies, analytics or trackers, and it doesn't load anything from other sites. Cloudflare hosts it, and like any host it sees visitors' IP addresses so it can deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks.
Changes
If I change this page, I'll update the date at the top.
